This is the 2015 digital re-issue of an album that was originally released on cassette in 1996. Here is a copy of the liner notes from the inside cover of the tape:

"The experience of making the SQL album was, for me, all about daring to jump in head-first, pushing my limits, and taking chances, in hopes of achieving a moment or two of truly spontaneous and personal musical expression. Not to play stuff I usually play while "jamming," or rely on pre-thought and practiced patterns (these are hard to avoid,) but to "discover" melodies and sounds I've never before created. To react and interact musically with friends, ie. speaking with notes instead of words, brainstorming extended musical yarns. In my eyes, therein lies the beauty of true improv. Or something like that... -S.L.
